The thunderbird and the gargoyle are two separate pictures. For this particular version I did the gargoyle first. (Sahale, for the curious.) He was done in pencil, Sharpie ultra fine point and Sharpie fine point witha touch of colored pencil so I could keep the background aligned (colored in Photoshop). Then I did the thunderbird in colored pencil on black construction paper and sampled it several times so the two pieces fit together (with a bit of Photoshop touch-up to make the patterns match as best I could.) Then (and I'm not sure why I did it this way) I pulled the figure off of its original background and put it on the sampled thunderbird background by itself. Weirdness. It's what I do. Anyway, May 2007 MGC entry. (Sadly I have a truly KILLER idea for June's topic and none of the necessary skills to realize it.)
